Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups My Dad's Chips Original, coarsely crushed
- Flaky sea salt, for finishing
Directions
- 1Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it smells nutty and the solids turn amber. Cool 10 minutes.
- 2Whisk the browned butter with both sugars, then beat in the eggs and vanilla until glossy.
- 3Stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then fold into the wet mixture just until combined.
- 4Fold in the chocolate chips, then the crushed chips with a light hand so they stay in pieces.
- 5Chill the dough at least 30 minutes. Heat the oven to 375°F and line two sheet pans.
- 6Scoop 2-tablespoon mounds 2 inches apart and press a few extra chip pieces on top.
- 7Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers still look soft.
- 8Finish with flaky salt and cool on the pan 5 minutes before moving to a rack.
