Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups My Dad's Chips Original, coarsely crushed
  • Flaky sea salt, for finishing

Directions

  1. 1Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it smells nutty and the solids turn amber. Cool 10 minutes.
  2. 2Whisk the browned butter with both sugars, then beat in the eggs and vanilla until glossy.
  3. 3Stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then fold into the wet mixture just until combined.
  4. 4Fold in the chocolate chips, then the crushed chips with a light hand so they stay in pieces.
  5. 5Chill the dough at least 30 minutes. Heat the oven to 375°F and line two sheet pans.
  6. 6Scoop 2-tablespoon mounds 2 inches apart and press a few extra chip pieces on top.
  7. 7Bake 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers still look soft.
  8. 8Finish with flaky salt and cool on the pan 5 minutes before moving to a rack.
